House Update: Garden

Our backyard sucks.

But I have big dreams. Beginning with a garden. More specifically box gardens.

Zac and I probably spend more time debating how to accomplish a task than actually completing it. In this case it was about even. We stood in the lumbar aisle at Home Depot for as long as we could before the B had had enough and wanted to go home and eat. Luckily we had the brilliant idea to just have our wood cut while we were there. Supposedly they started charging .50$ a cut, but the worker that did the cuts found a loophole and then when we took the slip to the cashier we think she rolled her eyes and didn't even put it in the total... haha.

Anyway I love them... I especially love my man for making them for me. We have voles in our neighborhood... if you don't know what they are, you'll have to google them. They are one of the main reasons we don't have a yard and it's perilous to your health to try to run (you will fall in a hole) in our yard. Anyway so we put this plastic netting stuff as well as some weed fabric stuff to the bottom of our boxes and hopefully it'll keep both out. Then we sifted out about a bajillion rocks out of some of our yard dirt (creating yet another hole) and combined it with some compost from the local dump and filled her up! We also had some help planting.

Congrats on the new job, Zac. Do you know a Mike Smith that works there? He was a classmate of mine at BYU. We miss you guys.

P.S. I love the one-armed homeless boy hanging out in your backyard in your last pic.

Does the one-armed boy come with the composter? Would you recommend that composter (with or without one-armed boy)?
